HYDERABAD:

Hyderabad commissioner Dr Riaz Ahmed Memon expressed his displeasure over the deteriorated condition of Rani Bagh and its zoo section and has ordered an inquiry into alleged irregularities in fund utilisation by the Qasimabad administration.

Dr Memon said that the Rani Bagh generates sufficient income but it is not being used to maintain and improve the park.

He directed the Qasimabad assistant commissioner to revisit all contracts and leases made by the previous administration and submit a report.

From now on all transactions except salaries would be made through the Qasimabad assistant commissioner and tenders will be floated before awarding contracts to acquire competitive services for the park and the zoo section, he said, adding that he was also dissatisfied by the faulty drainage system and asked the Hyderabad deputy commissioner to engage engineers to fix it.
