Campaign spending: Shahbaz and son submit statements

Shahbaz Sharif submitted total expenses of Rs1,791,000.

LAHORE: Several candidates including Shahbaz Sharif and Hamza Shahbaz submitted statements of their campaign expenses before the returning officers for their constituencies on Monday. Sharif, who is expected to return to the post of chief minister for the next five years, submitted total expenses of Rs1,791,000, of which Rs813,000 was spent on campaigning in NA-129, Rs465,000 in PP-159 and Rs513,000 in PP-161.Hamza Shahbaz submitted expenses of Rs2,226,617, of which Rs1,394,469 was spent in NA-119 and Rs832,148 in PP-142, on banners, flaxes, tents, catering, processions and fuel. Former Punjab Assembly deputy speaker Rana Mashood spent Rs833,000 in PP-149, Malik Riaz spent Rs1,457,500 in NA-118, while Mehar Ishtiaq spent Rs780,000 in NA-121 during their campaigns. May 21 is the deadline for winning candidates to submit statements of their expenses.
