Around 150 PTI supporters gathered at D-Chowk on Saturday evening to decry alleged rigging in the May 11 general elections.
Protesters shouted slogans and waved flags while saying they had come out in support of PTI supporters protesting in Lahore and Karachi, who according to them, faced actual incidents of rigging.
Supporters said the gathering was spontaneous and not on the call of any party leader, but said they were prepared for an organised event in case the PTI leadership issued a formal protest call against rigging.
PTI chief Imran Khan had demanded that the Election Commission of Pakistan hold fresh polls in six constituencies, including NA-250, where voting is scheduled for Sunday. However, the ECP has refused Khan’s request for fresh polls for NA-122.
The crowd was smaller than the one which had assembled at a similar protest at the same venue last week. Young PTI supporters also staged a brief sit-in.
