The incident took place as the convoy passed through Matani village on the outskirts of Peshawar.
"Militants opened fire on the military vehicles, two soldiers died and one sustained injuries in the attack," a military official in Peshawar told AFP, requesting anonymity as he was not authorised to talk to the media.
A second security official in Peshawar confirmed the attack and told AFP that troops had cordoned off the area and launched a search operation.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack but Taliban militants are active in Matani and other areas around Peshawar.

@usman_syed u do not know IK he knows his life is more precious than anyone else's so trust me he won't take on taleban. Everyone is scared of ones own life and Imran is not different.
The real challenge begins for PTI govt in KPK. Before having talks with these barbarians, please make sure to provide justice to bereaved families.
No talks with these blood thirsty monsters and traitors. The lives of our brave soldiers and officers are not so cheap. They must not be allowed any concessions whatsoever and instead with be dealt with the full might of the army and the entire country. Beware IK and PTI. The savages know no mercy and would stab you in the back.
My thoughts and prayers are with the effected families and hope God will give them strength to cope the loss of of their loved ones.
Don't take me wrong but I am thinking when our armed forces can't defend themselves from terrorists, how safe general public must be feeling on the streets of Pakistan. Most of the time, these terrorists attack army or civilians in broad day light and no attacker is captured or killed. We need to work on the security situation in Pakistan as #1 priority.
