Students of the University College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences at the Islamia University staged a protest on Thursday demanding Pakistan Veterinary Medical Council (PVMC) accreditation.
The students set up a protest camp at the Baghdadul Jadeed campus. The University College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences was set up in 2006. The students still wait for their degree to be accredited with the PVMC. They said after spending hundreds of thousands of rupees, most of the students were unable to find jobs due to the non-accreditation. The students dispersed after the vice chancellor met a delegation of the students’ committee and assured them that the Pakistan Veterinary Medical Council would soon approve the degree. The students also asked the VC for a separate laboratory, which the VC also agreed to.
