Earlier the Malkani group had a coalition with the Shirazi group, however they announced separation from its 15 year coalition during a press conference in Karachi.
The press conference was attended by PPP leader Qaim Ali Shah, Owais Muzaffar Tappi and Malkani group chief Muhammad Ali Malkani.
PPP leader Qaim Ali Shah said that the party's position in Thatta was good.
“Our party will gain strength after this coalition and will benefit both sides,” he said while congratulating Malkani.
The Shirazis recently parted ways with PPP and were determined to give the party a tough time in the elections.
Shirazi had explained that they decided to leave the PPP when it nominated Tappi, as they believed he was involved in land grabbing in their district. “Our voters expressed their reservations soon after he filed the nomination papers to contest the election.
Commenting on the recent protests demanding re-polling, Shah claimed “Although we had some reservations with Punjab polls yet we did not protest, for the betterment of the country”.
Addressing the accusations of rigging he said that some parties, who lost the elections, accused them, which is an undemocratic course of action. “Our chief [Asif Ali Zardari] congratulated Nawaz Sharif on his victory instead of protesting. That’s the democratic way,” said Shah.
