ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) leader Shahbaz Sharif met Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Thursday with regards to forming a new government.

Speaking to the media in Islamabad on Thursday, Shahbaz said that countries are not merely run by parties who win the elections, but are run by proper plans of action.

The PML-N reportedly put forward a formal invitation for the JUI-F to ally with the PML-N to form a coalition government in the centre and Balochistan.

On forming a government in Balochistan, Fazl said that no decision has been reached in this regard between the parties.

“We have called for a party meeting and will take the matter forward after taking everyone’s opinion. We will continue with our mutual cooperation,” Fazl said.

Shahbaz said that Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) won the mandate in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and should be given the right to form a government.

He also said that Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain should have refrained from making statements against the country, but “he [Altaf] retracted his statement which should be accepted”.

MI | 10 years ago | Reply I was heartbroken that he won from both constituencies in DI Khan but at least he won't be in government I thought. Now this! Come on Nawaz. I know reconciliation is a good thing but this guy was super friendly (even though he was opposition leader) with Musharaf! Someone at a meeting in 2007 at my village asked him what he thought of Musharaf. He said I have nothing but praise for the general and his policies. The man asked "even arresting politicians from rival parties?" Fazl answered "the more politicians he arrests, the more seats me and my party get!" How can a democratically elected leader say something like that.
