RAWALPINDI:

An Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) in Rawalpindi on Wednesday extended the pre-arrest bail of an All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) leader and spokesman of former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf in the lawyers’ assault case.

The interim bail of Dr Muhammad Amjad was extended till May 22 by ATC Judge Rana Masood Akhter against a bail bond of Rs 100,000.

The case was filed after a scuffle between Musharraf supporters and lawyers present at a court where the former president was appearing as a defendant. Several lawyers and Musharraf supporters sustained injuries during the subsequent brawl.

The court also ordered the Civil Lines police to furnish records of the case during the next hearing.

Meanwhile, the judge also remanded Nasarullah Khan Jaral, the APML candidate from PP-11, to police custody for seven days in the same case and directed the police to produce him in court during the next hearing.

Earlier, the Civil Lines police produced Jaral before the court and had sought 10 days physical remand.
