The brave people of K-P

Letter May 14, 2013
Imran Khan should be conscious of the fact that the people of K-P, by nature, only give one chance to their leaders.

KARACHI: The brave people of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) have once again shown their loyalty towards Pakistan by electing the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to lead the province for the next five years after an extremely below-par performance by the Pashtun nationalist Awami National Party. Our country, which has been ethnically and linguistically divided over the years, has proven that all is not lost and the people of K-P believe in credentials and performance, and not linguistic and ethnic considerations. It should be an eye-opener for the rest of the country, which unfortunately, could not go beyond the chains of language, caste or insecurity in the case of the people of rural Sindh, who I feel, always vote for the PPP despite its consistently poor performance, only due to the advancement of other parties in urban Sindh. However, Imran Khan should be conscious of the fact that the people of K-P, by nature, only give one chance to their leaders and if they do not perform, they wipe them out in the next elections if they fail to deliver.
