“Congratulating the new Parliament on its election, Ambassador Sherry Rehman has sent in her resignation to the (interim) prime minister, saying that it is time a new envoy come in as quickly as possible so that there is no gap in the (Pakistan-US) relationship,” a spokesperson of the embassy said.
Rehman, a former journalist, was information minister for President Asif Ali Zardari after the restoration of civilian rule following a 2008 election. But she resigned in March 2009 over a crisis in which the government was refusing to reinstate judges sacked under the military regime of president Pervez Musharraf.
In 2011, she was appointed as Pakistan’s Ambassador to the US after Husain Haqqani resigned in the wake of the Memogate scandal.

Ms Sherry Rehman was one of the most respected person in PPPP's lot. She resigned from Ambassadorship. Good. Mr. Aitzaz Ahsan was another respected person. He resigned from Senate. Did well.
Mr. Raza Rabbani is also a respected person and Senator. When you are going to resign. PPPP is not a place for a person like you.
Finally, she had resigned with dignity, i think it's a good option opted by Sherry Rehman.Keeping the sensitivity of Pak and U.S relations, we require a youthful and brilliant person who can handle pak and U.S issues, in an amicable way.So all we have to do is to keep our fingers cross and hope for the best to happen in future.
Definitely a show of maturity by PPP fellows.

There was no other option for her to resign, as the Government of PML(N) is going to take over soon.
I am expecting more resignations from other Ambassadors who were appointed politically.
There will also be a reshuffle among the Ambassadors and Consul Generals posted abroad.
I did not see any value addition by appointing her as ambassador .

This is called maturity, I am happy to see positive and healthy changes in political parties. Gilani stepped down, then Governor Punjab, now Sherry Rehman. Let see this gesture comes from Governor Sindh too or not. But overall, very graceful exit opted by PPP fellows.
