He said in telephonic address that his statements were being taken out of context and distorted to create a misunderstanding.
"MQM has no intention of asking for Karachi to be detached from Pakistan and those hurling accusations should listen to my statements carefully," he added.
On Sunday, Altaf Hussain had said, “Stop hating us and don’t force us to demand a separate province or country." The MQM's response came shortly after the PTI supporters took to the streets to protest again the alleged rigging during the general elections that took place in Pakistan on Saturday.

To all those who are claiming that people are distorting altaf hussains statement n that he only meant ' if you don't accept mqms mandate' ....pls let me know.. Does AH or MQM own Karachi? Who are they to speak for the karachites? I'm an Urdu speaking and I fully condemn this person and his party. They r nothing but ghundas. Furthermore, please kindly listen to the whole speech again. This statement was followed by a finely veiled threat to all the ppl who were out protesting.

being urduspeaking doesnt make you part of MQM, if it was then why doesnt mqm say it is a regional party rather than try to clain national party?? on one side says it is qomi party then says of urduspeking? confusion?
i am urdu speaking and i dnt support crime or being governend by gun! if mqm wants to stay and grow it needs to be more tolerant and needs to be more civilised

@Ashraf It is easy to say you are urdu speaking and hate mqm on the internet where no one can verify who you are. Statements like this from people like you should be taken with suspicion. While I don't like what he said, I don't hate mqm. I am an upper class mohajir who realises that there is still discrimination by the establishment against mohajirs. I don't condone violence or all of mr altaf's statements but I am not a fool to believe that there exists no descrimination in pakistan against mohajirs. I can say that because I myself experienced discrimination for being a mohajir and could not advance in my job. Now I am in the US where there is true equality for all minorities and am successful.
Altaf speech was justified after abusive PTi speech at teen talwar.

Everyone, please, cut him some slack. He did not mean to say detach Karachi from Pakistan. Also he did not mean it when he said in India 'Pakistan's separation from India is the biggest blunder of the century' (Reference:Youtube).
I am a 'Mohajir' from Karachi and the MQM and Altaf Hussain do NOT speak for me.
I am not from a rich family. But I believe people from the upper class have now found a voice. All power to them. Just like I have found my voice.

if mqm wanted to seperate karachi from Pakistan, there would be NO IF in his statement! He clearly said and tried to remind about bangladeshi people mandate-Baluchistan mandate.. and now you are doing the same with KARACHI mandate....

Aren't the Karachites are 'oppressed' by the establishment of the country. If you people deny this fact then sirs you exactly don't know the defination of oppression. You talk about justice, well human history is a clear witness that freedom is a true form of justice.

this all happened after thousands of complaints made to scotland yard and british consulate in North America of his threats against federation and participants of protest of an independent state. We all heard what he said about cutting down the protesters at teen talwar with swords. No misreporting there. That statement was broadcast on every channel loud n clear. Showed his true face to the whole country.

Altaf bhai, please calm down you represent a party not a city and please get a speech writer so your statements are not distorted. If you guys had kept quite everything would have blown over. Should only worry about mud that sticks, why not come back to karachi and become a Pakistani again? Then I think we will all would respect you otherwise be a law abiding UK citizen and leave Karachi alone. PTI point proven now start to change the system from within the assembly win NA 250 and start being positive or you will disappoint like the others have done. Mr. Altaf Hussain is a patriot, though he is living in London due to enmity, personal grudge, but he is 100% with Pakistan.
There are number of people who are jealous from MQM's popularity and that is one of the reasons that Mr. Altaf Hussain's comments are taken negative.
This is all done by people who have Anti-Mohajirs and Anti-Urdu speaking people's sentiments and who always stab the Urdu Speaking people from the back, but cannot openly comment against MQM, Mohajirs and Urdu Speaking people.

They make statements and try to back out by claiming they are misunderstood, misquoted, their statements distorted, etc. etc. Altaf says that people should others should listen to his statements carefully. Why is he not making or not able to make his statements clearly so that others can understand it easily?
Please stop blackmailing people of Karachi and Pakistanis. This is not the 90s anymore, these tactics just don't work anymore, no to this reign of terror. People are aware, the fact that he is having to come up with these apologetic statements/excuses now, says a lot. Keep it up people of Karachi!
