Planning board: 21 development projects approved

LAHORE:

The Punjab government has approved 21 revised, ongoing development schemes at an estimated cost of Rs25,717.507 million.

The schemes were approved in the 33rd meeting on Sunday of the Provincial Development Working Party in fiscal year 2012-13. Punjab Planning and Development Board Chairman Sohail Ahmad presided over the meeting, said a spokesman.

The development projects were considered at the meeting in order to avoid delays and to protect from inflation raising their cost, said the spokesman.

Most of the projects are for the improvement of the road network in the province. The most expensive of them is the dualisation of the Kasur-Depalpur carriageway in districts Kasur and Okara at a cost of Rs5.3 billion. A scheme to resolve traffic problems at Kalma Chowk in Lahore, at a cost of Rs2.1 billion, was also approved.
