The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) congratulated citizens on the impressive voter turnout in the general elections on Saturday, Radio Pakistan reported.

In a statement issued in the evening, the Commission condemned those responsible for disrupting the polling process and appreciated the people who showed their faith in democracy by voting despite security threats.

The Commission said that those who voted showed remarkable resilience against the ill-wishers of democracy.

It expressed hope that those who get voted to power today will not overlook the support of the voters and discharge their responsibilities with as much enthusiasm as the people who voted showed today.
