KARACHI: Central leader of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, Firdous Shamim Naqvi said that the caretaker government of Sindh and Provincial Election Commission of Pakistan have failed to hold free and fair elections in Karachi, despite tall claims made before general election 2013.
He expressed these views view while addressing a press conference at Karachi Press Club (KPC) on Saturday. PTI candidate NA-253 Ashraf Qureshi, Dr Arif Alvi NA-250, Zubair Khan NA-256 and Faisal Vohra were also present.
He said long queues of youngsters were seen outside the polling station early morning who wanted to cast votes for a “new Pakistan”, but poor administration ruined their hopes.
He said that unavailability of polling material and absence of staff has shown ineptness of ECP and government. He also said that the situation would have been different had the election commission provided proper facility to voters and if the army was deployed inside polling stations.
Zubair Khan said that polling agents of PTI were harassed by 'terrorists' but the law enforcement agencies remained silent. He also added that PTI candidate Arsalan Ghuman and other polling agents were attacked.
Dr Arif Alvi said that despite repeated demands for army deployment inside polling stations in Karachi, the administration did not pay attention. He said that bogus voting in different constituencies of Karachi in the presence of law enforcement agencies has raised many question over their performance.

What of rigging in DHA, Lahore by Saad Rafique? ECP is sleeping?
Mqm performance may not have been stellar during the last five years but then no one else has shown himself sincere to work for Karachi. Hence mqm remains the safe alternative.
The only party which refused to indulge in such shameful practices.
Today we know which parties rely on true public support, and which only claim to do so.
Sour grapes, guys! All other parties, as usual, are ganging up against mqm.
Seems like tabdeeli has fizzled out.
