Preventing thalassemia: Governor Ebad signs ordinances

Governor also approved two other ordinances, Sindh Mental Health ordinance and Sindh Healthcare Commission Ordinance.

KARACHI: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad signed the ‘Sindh Prevention and Control of Thalassemia Ordinance’ during a ceremony at the Governor House on May 8, the International Thalassemia Day.

“This is the first time that an ordinance like this has been passed in Pakistan,” said Law Minister Mehmood Yusuf Mandviwalla. “It will help introduce programmes that inform the public about the disease, its symptoms and the methods to be used to prevent it.”

The governor also approved two other ordinances, Sindh Mental Health ordinance and Sindh Healthcare Commission Ordinance.
