The final countdown: Violators of campaign deadline to face strict action

Voters who are in line post-5pm will be allowed to cast votes.

PESHAWAR: The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Election Commission has warned action would be taken against parties violating the Friday 12am deadline to halt election campaign activities.

All electioneering would come to an end at midnight between Thursday and Friday. Under the People’s Representative Act, anyone found in violation will face consequences, read the press statement issued on Thursday.



According to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), K-P and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) are ready for the historic 2013 elections. Polling will begin at 8am and continue till 5pm on May 11 without any breaks. Voters left in line will be allowed to cast their vote after 5pm.



In the statement, K-P Chief Election Commissioner Sono Khan Baloch appealed to all voters to perform their civic duty and cast votes without any fear.
