Dual national: Zahid Iqbal stays disqualified

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Tuesday disqualified former MNA Chaudhry Zahid Iqbal from contesting elections in NA-162, Sahiwal-III. The Bench dismissed Iqbal’s petition challenging the orders of the returning officer and the election tribunal. They had declared him ineligible for having was a dual nationality. Iqbal had won the previous elections from the same constituency. He was declared disqualified by the Supreme Court in October 2012. Iqbal was arrested in April.
