Security arrangements: Camera surveillance to assist police

Karachi police, as per its election security plan, has installed 930 closed-circuit cameras at 164 sites in the city.

KARACHI: Karachi police, as per its election security plan, has installed 930 closed-circuit cameras at 164 sites in the city, while another 2,000 cameras will be installed at 400 new locations with the help of a donor agency.

This was said in a meeting chaired by Sindh IGP Shahid Nadeem Baloch, at the Central Police Office on Tuesday.

A fleet of 48 police vans have been fitted with security cameras while another 52 vehicles are being prepared for May 11.

These will operate in areas where the control centre is not available to provide coverage.

Additionally, all police vehicles have been fitted with trackers directly connected to the control centre.
