Gunned down: Brother, sister killed over a matrimonial dispute

A man and his teenage sister were gunned down over a matrimonial dispute in Zulfikar Phulpoto village, Khairpur district, on Monday. Imam Bux Phulpoto and his sister, Zarina Phulpoto, were killed when a group of armed men barged into their house and opened indiscriminate firing.

The siblings died on the spot and the assailants managed to flee.

The police shifted the bodies to Civil Hospital, Khairpur, for autopsy and later handed them over to the family.

An FIR was registered by Riaz Hussain Phulpoto, a brother of the deceased, in which he nominated Din Muhammad Phulpoto, Kaleemullah Phulpoto and five others.

He told the police that five months ago the accused had killed his other brother, Rehmatullah Phulpoto, over a matrimonial dispute. The matter, he said, was already pending in the court. He said the accused were forcing them to withdraw the case and killed his brother and sister when they refused. No arrests have been made so far.
