Private sector is the backbone of county’s economy and it should be given due representation in government institutions, demanded President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI), Zafar Bakhtawari on Monday.
He said this at a meeting with elected office bearers of the newly established Vehari Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI).
The ICCI president said that their representation in government institutions would ultimately create an environment of trust between the business community and the government.
“It is necessary that people with knowledge of economy should be part of policy making, as budget formulation exercise has begun and their representation, in this regard is vital,” he said
The ICCI also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the VCCI to assist the latter in its initial phase of operation.
Director General Trade Organizations Javed Qureshi said that formation of chambers and trade unions in small districts will usher in a new era of progress.
