Election transport: Police impounding vehicles
Dozens of vehicles were seized on Saturday and Sunday and parked at police stations.

Police have established pickets at various points in the city to seize vans, pickups, APVs, buses, coaches and mini trucks. Dozens of vehicles were seized on Saturday and Sunday and parked at police stations. Police officials said transporters were hiding their vehicles despite an assurance from the police that they would be paid for the use of their transport. They said police were forced to impound the vehicles on account of the non-cooperation of vehicle owners.
Talking to The Express Tribune, the transporters said the district administration kept promising to pay them for using their vehicles, but every time in the end paid them nothing. On the other hand, they said, the government officials charged hefty amounts from the exchequer for the private vehicles used for official activity.
