Police registered cases against 949 people on Saturday and Sunday, of which 22 were arrested. Amir Nasir Javed, a police spokesman, told The Express Tribune that most of the people had been charged with display and use of weapons and holding rallies and meetings without permission. He said City Police Officer Riffat Mukhtar Raja had directed the police superintendents, deputy superintendents and stations house officers to ensure that all election activities were closely monitored.
