Transparency International Pakistan (TIP) has written a letter to the Supreme Court’s chief justice seeking his intervention in the appointment of two retired servicemen in Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).
According to a copy of the letter sent to the Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, the TIP said Brig (retd) Ishaq Ahmed is working as director security and vigilance and Col (retd) Mazhar Iqbal is working as general manager vigilance.
The whistleblower against corruption said these appointments were against the rules and procedures that require hiring to be open and on merit only.
Even the ban imposed by the Supreme Court on hiring in PIA in December 2012 was flouted, TIP said.
TIP said the required experience was tailor made to fit Brig (retd) Ishaq and Col (retd) Mazhar Iqbal. The two posts were not open for private sector experts, which was gross discrimination and against the principles of open merit.

And no request for other workers being fit in the company owing to their political affiliations? Are all the other employees selected on merit? If TIP wants to highlight something, it should cover the whole scenario not some selected ones.
