The caretaker government in Sindh will issue four ordinances, Thalassemia Prevention Act, Healthcare Commission Act and Mental Health Ordinance and an ordinance making Jinnah hospital a teaching hospital for Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU), on May 8.
The health department had prepared a legal draft earlier to register private hospitals, ban the sale of medicine which is not prescribed, and prevent the harassment of doctors during work hours which could not be presented in the Sindh Assembly due to amendments in the bill.
“The previous provincial government had approved the bill to add a teaching hospital to JSMU,” said an official from the health department. “The bill was stalled because they hadn’t specified which teaching hospital would be made a part of the university.”
