LIAQUATPUR: A forest fire burnt wood worth millions of rupees here on Saturday.

Forest officers have allegedly burnt a big portion of local forest to conceal wood theft worth millions of rupees. Sources said the forest officers in the area were investigating for alleged timber theft. When the fire brigade staff failed to put down the fire, the Abbasia canal embankment was breeched. However, wood worth millions of rupees was reduced to ashes before the fire went out. Range Forest Officer Malik Matloob Hussain said the fire had been caused by the negligence of honey-collectors.
