Attacks Thwarted: Bombs defused in Bannu, Kohat

According to BDS official Wasal Khan, the explosives planted in the canister weighed eight kilogrammes.

KOHAT/ BANNU: Two high intensity bombs planted in Bannu and Kohat were defused by the bomb disposal squad (BDS) in separate incidents on Saturday.

Bannu Cantonment police official Asad Khan said he was informed by a pedestrian early morning of a canister connected with wires spotted by a roadside in cantonment area. Bannu police rushed to the site and blocked all routes leading to and from Jaman Road. They called the BDS officials who successfully defused the bomb. According to BDS official Wasal Khan, the explosives planted in the canister weighed eight kilogrammes. Separately, Billitang police official Shah Doran Khan said at around 6am he was told by locals that unidentified militants had planted a bomb near the boundary wall of a boys primary school. BDS officials rushed to the site and defused the explosive device.
