Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) announced its election manifesto on Friday promising a network of industries in Balochistan, allocation of 40% of development funds for education, an end to military operations and recovery of missing persons.
BNP-M Senior Vice President Dr Jahanzaib Jamaldini and senior leaders Sajjid Tareen Advocate, Saeed Kurd, Malik Naseer Shahwani presented the party’s manifesto during a news conference at Quetta Press Club.
The driving principles of the foreign policy will be peaceful coexistence, non-interference in the internal issues of the neighbours, Dr Jamaldani said.
Relations with centre
An end to exploitative economic and administrative policies, drainage of the province’s resources and military operations in Balochistan would be the base for social and economic justice, said Jamaldini.
He said that BNP would end the ‘death squads’, targeted killings and ‘kill and dump’ policy. Displaced persons would be rehabilitated and efforts would be made to end occupation on thousands of acres of land for military use.
Natural resources
He said that the right of people of Balochistan would be recognised on the natural resources of the province along with complete control on Sui gas field, Chamalang coalfield, Saindak gold and copper mines, and the Dodhar and Dar Aap resources.
“The authority of people of Balochistan would be recognised on the coastal resources and the fishing industry would be renovated on modern lines. Fishing with industrial trawlers would be banned,” Jamaldini said and added that the right of people of Balochistan would be strengthened on communication lines passing through the province.
Economy
The BNP-M leader said that for the economic uplift of the province the party would encourage setting up of industries that would hire 90% employees from local population.
Health and education
Giving BNP-M’s education plan, he said five more universities including university of marine sciences, two medical colleges would be established along with modern research centre.
