Threat averted: Bomb planted to target police defused

Police reached the site along with the BDS and defused the bomb.

CHARSADDA: A bomb planted to target a police van in Khanmahi area of Charsadda was defused by the bomb disposal squad (BDS) on Friday.

Khanmahi police official Gohar Khan said he was on routine patrol at around 9.30am when an intelligence source informed him militants had planted explosives in Sur Pul area near Wali Bagh to target his vehicle. Consequently, the area was cordoned off and traffic was diverted to other routes. Police reached the site along with the BDS and defused the bomb containing three kilogrammes of explosives packed in a canister.
