A violent clash between Wajid Ali Khan, an ANP candidate for PK-80, and Abbas, a shopkeeper, arose when the latter refused to vote for Khan because he was a staunch JI supporter. Khan, already frustrated due to his poor performance as provincial minister for forests and environment, allegedly became very angry and had Abbas beaten by fellow ANP workers.
Consequently, Abbas went to the Mingora police station and lodged an FIR against the former MPA. The issue was resolved at the office of the district and sessions judge after notables became involved. Khan was served a notice for going against the Election Commission of Pakistan’s rules, and the FIR lodged against him and the ANP workers was withdrawn.
