BANNU: The main gate of Bannu Woollen Mills was partially destroyed when a bomb planted by unidentified militants exploded in Saddar, Bannu on Tuesday.

Gul Nawaz along with other police officials in the vicinity rushed to the site after hearing the sound of the explosion at around 2:30am. “We were informed by the mill authorities that a blast had occurred near the main gate,” said Nawaz. He further explained unidentified militants had planted a bomb near the gate.

However, no human loss was reported when it went off, he added. Nawaz said had the blast occurred at another time of the day, it would have caused severe devastation. Wasal Khan, an official of the bomb disposal squad in Bannu said five kilogrammes of explosives were planted in a canister which was placed in front of a gate and then detonated.
