CHARSADDA: The Awami National Party candidate for PK-17, Muhammad Ahmad Khan, on Tuesday blamed the district government and SHO Sardheri for being negligent, after an explosion on Monday nearly killed him. The remote-controlled blast in Sardheri Bazaar claimed one life and injured 15 others.

Addressing a press conference at his house, Ahmad Khan promised that if in future any such calamity befell his party workers in the constituency, he would file a case against the district government and SHO Sardheri.

Claiming he was targeted in the explosion, Khan maintained SHO Sardheri did not pay a visit to ask about the incident, nor did he register an FIR based on Khan’s statement.

“The SHO filed the FIR against the blast,” Ahmad Khan told journalists.  “It’s our right to register the FIR.” The politician claimed the SHO had still not contacted him and blamed the blast on the police officer’s negligence.

According to Ahmad Khan, he had not been provided with any police security and accused the administration of creating ‘issues’ over hiring personal guards for security. He alleged the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl candidates, on the other hand, were allowed to keep dozens of security guards.

He also expressed concerns about the medical superintendent of Headquarters Hospital allegedly misbehaving with blast victims and demanded the superintendent’s suspension.
