Two state-run boys schools were destroyed by unidentified militants in separate incidents on Monday.
Riaz Khan, an official of Kakki police, said that around midnight, a boys primary school was blown up in Asad Khujri area. He added that after the explosion, police, along with the bomb disposal squad (BDS), reached the site and launched a search operation.
According to the BDS officials, the bomb was planted along the boundary wall of the school. A classroom adjacent to the wall was destroyed in the blast.
At 1.15am, three more explosions were heard, this time targeting a school in Mandiu area of Miryan.
BDS official Wasal Khan said when they reached the site they saw that the boundary wall and four classrooms of the high school were destroyed, while three others were partially damaged.
Another bomb placed in a canister was recovered in a classroom of the school. “Five kilogrammes of explosives were placed in each bomb,” said Khan, adding they defused the fourth bomb in time.
