ECP releases election schedule for May 11

Polling to start from 8am till 5pm.

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) issued the election schedule for May 11 with polling to start from 8am till 5pm, reported Express News on Friday.

There will be no break from 8am till 5pm after which all polling stations will be closed.

The schedule has been sent to all returning officers.

The total number of registered voters this elections is 86,189,802 out of which 37,597,415 are female voters and 48,592,387 are male voters.

A total of 4,671 candidates are contesting for 272 general seats in the National Assembly while 10,958 candidates are contesting for provincial assemblies.

@John the Baptist: Election day is a national holiday, so for the masses at least, they do not need to wait until after 5 pm.

This is crazy, it is supposed to be the election schedule, not a government office timing. In all civilised countries, voting is allowed til much later to make sure everyone can get a hence to vote after finishing heir normal day of work.
