Citing threats to his life from the Taliban and other extremist militants, the interior ministry has written a letter to the law ministry requesting it to limit former president General (R) Pervez Musharraf’s movements outside his farmhouse in Chak Shahzad.
Militant elements are planning an attack on the former president, said the letter, citing intelligence intercepts and police special branch reports that were compiled soon after Musharraf’s return to Pakistan. Some of these elements will even attempt to kidnap him, it said.
Quoting the recent incident of the car found near Musharraf’s house, declared as a sub-jail, the letter said that the militants wanted to target the ex-president with the car.
“The former president was facing serious threats and thus as a precautionary measure his movement outside the sub-jail should be limited,” the letter communicated. It added that considering the high risk involved Musharraf should not be taken out of his farmhouse for court hearings.
Soon after Musharraf’s return to Pakistan, a report by the police special branch was submitted to the interior ministry which stated that certain militant groups, particularly Ghazi Force, were planning to target him.

@Enlightened:
this is not musharrafs fault. stop blaming him idiot. this is the fault of your stupid government that it cannot implement police reforms (like those done under musharraf) to have a good honest police force in place. the police reforms done under president musharraf in 2002 were scrapped and a colonial system put back into place in 2009 by our so called democrats. PM has a life threat to him, and as a VIP, whether you or anyone else here likes it or not, deserves and should get higher security. his security and the security normal citizens deserve are not mutually exclusive. but its not his job to worry about that. go read a book now.
He is NOT an ordinary man. Don't forget that, please. He is a brave leader who can save Pakistan from both internal and external threats.
@;-)chief The luxury of fool-proof security in ones own bungalow or a safe passage to another country is not applicable for an ordinary Pakistani, unless you are one of the top politician or military brass. Sorry chief bad luck.
Musharaf can safe Pakistan from becoming Somalia. Otherwise TTP will highjack Pakistan and it will be the beginning of complete destruction. So fight against terrorism and support Musharaf.
Wish Pakistan can/could have given Sarabjit Singh the same.
@Enlightened: Me too on the board......;-)
yet Judges will need Musharraf, the most high profile person will be required in the courts.
The former President and COAS should not be further humiliated and all cases against him should be dropped. Since his life is in danger in Pakistan and many are plotting against him, he should be flown out of Pakistan in a charted plane accompanied by President Zardari to doubly ensure his safety.
@Snoop Dog: very true....
It is not only General (R) Musharraf whose life is under threat but lives of all political leaders and high government officials including the ECP officials are under threat by the terrorists.
The government should not only consider Ghazi Force, but must consider all the banned outfits, militants and terrorist organizations, as they are in collaboration with each other to implement on their common goals and nefarious agenda to destabilize Pakistan.
Due to continuous bomb blasts in the country uncounted people have died and the new wave of election terrorism have only restricted the political parties of the big gatherings but I can say looking of the present scenario that the turn over on May 11, 2013 will be very less comparing to the previous trend of elections.
It is still not sure that elections will be held on May 11, 2013, though ECP has set the date.
Allah may protect our hero from all evils (Aameen).
Very well done and now the judges,senior police's and FIA's officials shall go to Musharraf's farm house in Chak Shehzad for hearing the case and investigation.....
Every citizen of Pakistan faces life threats on a daily basis. Read the news of people dying in all major cities. What is the law and interior ministry doing to protect the citizens?? Nothing. Musharraf should realize that his being targeted and facing the courts is a result of his own doing. And now like a brave Commando he should face the world. The establishment and the Government need to lighten up on their daily bulletins. They should reassure the citizens of safety by making security agencies act behind the scenes, rather than create fear and panic in the country. Or, is it intentional??
What if Pervez Musharraf nominates some Judges & Politicians in advance like BB nominated Pervez Musharraf
