Civil hospital: Malnutrition ward set up

GUJRANWALA: A ward has been established to treat chronic malnutrition at the Civil Hospital with the cooperation of the World Health Organisation (WHO). The 10-bed ward will work round-the-clock and all medicine will be provided free of cost. Dr Umar, Dr Ahsan and Dr Irfan will look after children at the ward. A WHO spokesman told The Express Tribune the organisation had also set up malnutrition wards in Sargodha, Gujrat and Faisalabad where children up to five years of age would be treated. The spokesman said many children died of malnutrition and people didn’t consult doctors for their treatment. He said the WHO would conduct clinical tests on mothers and children involved and provide them with free medicine.
