Environment awareness: Rootsian wins silver medal at int’l competition

Thirty other students awarded honorary certificates.

At an international painting competition it was a Rootsian who won the silver medal, according to a press release issued by the school on Thursday.


Meanwhile, 30 other students received honorary certificates at the “International Adolescents Painting Competition Taiwan, 2012”, a biennial event, where primary school students from all over the world from more than 120 countries participated.

The theme of Lamiha Basit’s painting was “The Future of the Sea World”. She clinched the award for elucidating life in the sea with its endless colours. The well executed artwork and concept was elaborated with beautiful colours and was very captivating. Thirty other students from the RIS were also awarded with certificates.

“Being an advocate of environmental sustainability and protection, the RIS has always motivated and educated the students about the importance of the natural milieu for making the environment green and beautiful,” said an official representing the school.

“The RIS believes that one cannot truly understand what is happening to the global climate and the natural environment without understanding the state of the deep sea,” he added.
