HYDERABAD:

Isra University hosted a photo exhibition to mark 50 years of USAID-funded development and emergency initiatives in Pakistan.

The three-day event was inaugurated by the US consul-general in Karachi, Michael Dodman, on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, Dodman said that the photos show that Pakistanis and Americans have been working together for a brighter future of this country for half a century now and the relationship is founded on common interests and mutual respect.

Dodman said that the USAID has built schools and hospitals, provided solar electric power to villages and helped women obtain national identity cards in Sindh.

The USAID also stood alongside the people during the floods and other natural calamities and helped in the rehabilitation process, he added.

The exhibition showed a retrospective multimedia display of all US-funded development initiatives in Pakistan over the last 50 years and was attended by a large number of foreigners as well. The exhibition will continue till April 27.
