Police inefficency: Students protest peer’s injury
SP also ordered police to immediately set up a police check post near the NFC Institute to ensure safety for students.
FAISALABAD:
More than 100 students of the NFC Institute of Engineering and Fertiliser Research (Engineering University) staged a protest demonstration on Wednesday against the police’s failure in arresting robbers who injured a university student on Monday. The protesting students gathered in front of the university on Jaranwala Road blocking it for more than three hours and refusing to disperse. Muhammad bin Masood, who belongs to Multan, was shot in the stomach by some robbers on resistance near the university. Muhammad Naveed, one of Masood’s friends, told The Express Tribune that Masood was deprived of his mobile phone and the cash he had been carrying. He said a case was filed with the Madina Town police, but they had not arrested anyone yet. The protesting students demanded that a police picket be set on the Jaranwala Road near the university and said that it was not the first mugging incident outside the university. They dispersed after Police Superintendent Tahir Maqsood assured them that the suspects would be arrested soon and action would be taken against them. He also ordered Madina Town police to immediately set up a police check post near the NFC Institute to ensure safety for students.
