Poll Plea: IGP directed to protect Ayesha Malik

Malik had submitted that she was contesting elections and had received death threats from some unidentified people.

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Tuesday directed the inspector general of police to ensure the security of Ayesha Ahad Malik who is contesting election from NA-119 against Hamza Shahbaz. Justice Mazhar Iqbal Siddhu disposed of her petition when IGP Aftab Sultan assured the court that Malik’s safety would be ensured. Malik had submitted that she was contesting elections and had received death threats from some unidentified people. She requested the court to issue directions to the police to provide her with security during the election campaign and take action against the callers.
