Contempt Of Court: Bank of Punjab president summoned
The LHC had ordered the bank to release the payment but that order had not been complied with.
LAHORE:
Justice Muhammad Khalid Mehmood Khan of Lahore High Court, while hearing a contempt of court petition on Monday, directed the Bank of Punjab president to appear in court on June 7. Cameraman Aftab Shah had submitted, through his lawyer Aftab Bajwa, that Shah had been injured on-duty while filming a marathon race in 2012. The Sports Board had announced a million rupees as compensation and the government had directed the Bank of Punjab to release the payment to him. Bajwa said the bank had not made the payment despite the passage of several months. He said the LHC had ordered the bank to release the payment on March 4, but that order had not been complied with. He requested the court to initiate contempt of court proceedings against the bank’s officials.
