Agriculture: Wheat procurement begins

A procurement target of 0.73 million metric tonnes has been set for the Bahawalpur division.

BAHAWALPUR: The wheat procurement drive in the district began here on Sunday. According to Commissioner Hamid Yaqoob Sheikh, a procurement target of 0.73 million metric tonnes has been set for the Bahawalpur division, of which 0.27 million metric tones would be procured from Bahawalpur district, 0.24 million metric tonnes from Bahawalnagar and 0.22 million metric tonnes from the Rahim Yar Khan district. He said the distribution of gunny bags among farmers had also begun. He said steps had been taken to facilitate farmers during the procurement process. There was no ban currently on inter-provincial transportation of wheat, he added.
