The retired general was presented in an anti-terrorism court in connection with the judges’ arrests case and was sent on 14-day judicial remand on Saturday, while his farmhouse was declared sub-jail.
The ex-president’s movement is limited to his bedroom, which is equipped with a television set and a refrigerator. He is also not allowed to use a telephone, mobile phone or computer.
Visitors barred
“Musharraf is being subjected to harsher conditions than he would have faced in Adiala Jail,” said All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) General Secretary Dr Amjad.
Amjad stated that although lawyers are allowed to meet their clients, Musharraf is currently barred from any visitor, including his lawyer.
“We have court hearings over the next three consecutive days. If he is not allowed to meet his lawyers, how will they fight his case?” asked Amjad.

JIYA musharraf
@Muhammad: You summed up the drama presently on in Pakistan.
All the three stake holders Judiciary, Media, and politicians are hiding the truth and serving justice to only "Targeted Persons" through verdicts, coverage, and bashing. It will keep us confused for years to come.
I mean, look at the photo on this article.., don't you fell in love with this gracious, talented, intelligent and brave man?
The question that is increasingly emerging is Who Minds the Minders. The judiciary had a great opportunity to earn the respect and gratitude of the populace but they have floundered it in the interest of populism. One wishes to ask what improvement mechanism has been brought into the judicial mechanism. Suo moto cases are ad hoc measures only and no substitute for concrete, long term reforms.
Musharraf's team would do well to set up a panel of eminent lawyers of Pakistan who should fight Musharraf's case and establish the biased nature of any - and there are already many - actions which the judiciary takes in respect of Musharraf's trials.

A must watch video by those who are against Musharraf for his stand against Lal Masjid
Was your Omlette done right Mr Musharraf ? Do you prefer french pastries for breakfast tomorrow or Neehari, Halwa ? Hope you have not run out of cuban cigars or french wine.
Seriously Tribune? Why do you get little kids to write for your web desk? Please hire people with experience in writing proper content. It doesn't matter what he eats or drinks while he is imprisoned. Did the media report or do you have the guts to publish a researched report about how our current President Zardari used to live while he was in jail? Or even how our ex-Prime Minister Gilani? Or How Nawaz Sharif for that matter while he ran away to Saudi Arabia and was treated like a member of the royal family!
The fact of the matter is publish this comment and let everyone know that you guys need to improve your reporting standards.
I don't understand who in Pakistan has the right to make musharraf accountable. All the politicians have ruined the people of Pakistan, plundered the wealth and made castles in other countries. There is no one i.e. not a single person in Pakistan who has the ethical/moral ground to hold the ex-dictator accountable. In my view there is none.
What kind of justice is this??? Political leaders in real prison when they do something bad and when any Army person does he is home prisoned. Wow what a justice. This option should be given to the public also.
Former President Musharraf.. we are with you. Allah be with You did a lot for Pakistan. The judiciary is biased. The way lawyers are beating a supporter of APML as shown in picture tells a complete picture. Revenge at its best! Media and anchorpersons should also be ashamed of giving one sided story. Even the lies seems to be truth!
@ Haroon Pascal. Man, he even doesn't deserve to be in prison. If military has suck whatever blood you are saying then go and convict the military. Start from the begining. Why are you behind the neck of Musharaf? even in 2007, whatever he had done with judges was after consultation with the democratically elected PM and a full cabinet. Go and convict all of them. Why only MUSHRAFAF???
No more pictures of the commando working out on Facebook??!!! What am I going to do during my lunch breaks now?!!
It is utter shame on Pakistan’s Media which gained the most Freedom and Empowerment during the Musharraf era. Musharraf very definitely for the first time started the process of bringing about true Democracy. All his work and achievements are part of available history. So is the history of all the looters, corrupt and liars who have been making a fool of the masses again and again.
Many leaders, both civil and military abrogated Pakistan’s constitution, insulted and removed judges for more than 50 years. Pervez Musharraf who may be a military man but brought about most changes to start true Democracy in Pakistan should not be singled out. Many leaders and their partners who should be in jail first before blaming Musharraf.
@Mohammad: And what truth would that be?
@Muhammad: Choudrys' and all others who were responsible for breaking the law and constitution ought to be tried without exception. However, Musharraf was the President and therefore holds maximum responsibility for the policies and decisions taken by his government. And as for the Lal Masjid, much as I am critical of extremism and especially terrorism, n way would I back ruthless callous killing of people without giving them a fair trial. Otherwise, we will indeed be equally unjust as the terrorists who kill with impunity.
What do Musharraf sympathizers think about the mental ability and judgement of Musharraf, who wanted to pick a war with India, only to retreat ?? Did it do Pakistan any good or add to its history of bad policies and humiliation ?
@Ali: You call this justice man. It is revenge, vendetta and racism. Shame on judiciary who has not been able to convict a single terrorist so far. Instead of focusing on policies for future we are happy just persecuting a good man. Shame on the so called judges - totally biased and not fit to be judges in the first place.
again he will cme out to tell his heroic story of being jailed bcoz he served country... Cme on speed up the case before elections..
He should be sent to Adiala Jail in all fairness.
The legal fraternity in Pakistan is probably the most disreputable profession in the country. People who rob the common man, by not delivering the services for which they were hired. What percentage of Pakistanis would be satisfied with their lawyers? Very few I would imagine. They include self-serving opportunists like Aitzaz Ahsan and the fake degree holder Babar Awan.
What exactly do these lawyers agitating against Musharraf want? A return to kleptocracy?
The whole play is to protect him fom the Talibns! No politician can survive the wrath of Taliban if they become known in any way suppoting the use of drones on their children. Musharaf is apparently being kept within four walls so that the suicide commandos cannot come near him.

@Author: Would it make you happier if they removed jam and fresh juice from the menu and let him talk to his attorneys instead?
Great leader. Will succeed by the grace of God.
Ah. This country never stops to amaze you - thanks to all those at the helm of affairs. In the name of democracy the nation is being fooled by all. Why Mush alone is convicted in all these cases when he was the head of state. A/c to constitution Mush had forwarded a reference from then PM Shaukat Aziz and it can argued that he had done that in coordination with his cabinet so as a whole all of the cabinet should be convicted. This is simply a drama where every body is looking for personal revenges starting from cheif justice. Moreover, the same CJ had validated the military coup of 1999 now he is leading the chanting of justice for all. Allah bachayay Pakistan ko!!!
May god bless him. He is a true hero.Unfortunately, Pakistani people deserve only ZARDARIS AND SHARIFS.
@thor:
He is still Qaid.. and will remain Qaid.. bring me a Qaid who submitted himself to Justice...everyone runs away.
Please realize before it is too late, Musharraf do not have any uncle, aunty, brother, sister, son, daughter, cousin in politics.. he is all alone, fighting for you, fight for Pakistan.
may I ask my fellow citizens criticizing, had you worried during Musharraf's government? Were there any shortage of Flour, Sugar, Electricity, Gas... Jobs?
Dear Citizens, why do you forget that, Economy needs good relations with international community and who is having more respect and relations with international community other than Musharraf? Zardari? Nawaz Sharief? not even Imran Khan has that kind of respect which Musharraf is having.
That respect is not because he was Army Chief, it's the respect he has earned in his 9 years of governess.. by empowering the people of Pakistan, by saving the citizens from Political sharks, from terrorists, from bad economy.
His detention is similar to the exile of the Sharifs. He is enjoying cigars, just like the latter enjoyed the Saroor Palace. With 40 suitcases filled with cash and gold, Saroor palace was nothing short of a heaven on earth.
I miss those days when Pakistan was prospering under Musharraf rule. He gave jobs, economic power, media freedem and grass root level democracy. After him we are in hands of looters, for which we deserve. We have not learned anytning and yet we are again going to vote for the looters.
When Mr Musharraf spent a night at police head quarters , he spent it in the suite reserved for the Inspector General of Police !! Now he seems to be vacationing at his 5 acre resort.
Musharraf in jail and the Pakistani youth's hope of a future with jobs, just like it started to occur in 2000-07, is over. My rupee has made me worth half as much as I was in 2007 and here goes my family's little wealth for which worked hard for their lives. Long live common sense which has left our nation!
Personal Revenge disguised as rule of law.
The man obviously didn't have a good understanding of the people of Pakistan. You have to be insane to return to a country where people prefer corrupt scoundrels. Any govt.'s success should be measured in terms of what it delivered to the common folk. Law and order; the economy ( foreign investment, the currency, industrialisation, etc. ); bringing down the level of corruption ( honest leadership ); a free media. On all these points Musharraf I believe scored far better than the Zardari/Bhuttos or the Sharif brothers. His major misstep- the episode involving the Chief Justice; but was that in any way any more reprehensible than the storming of the Supreme Court by Sharif's supporters.
Really sad. He only wanted to make long-distance call to the puppeteers!
Adiala Jail was a better place for such a person....... He would not learn whatever he could learn living in a real jail.
Musharraf is our Hero, I solute him. I am with you Sir.
i am suprised our judiciary system is willing to give justice to musharaf sir ! well on the other hand we all knew who killed shahzaib but still that case is pending due to irrelevant reasons... gosh what a judiciary system .....!!! A CRAP!
How can a General be treated like this!
how the trial is going to be fair when his lawyers are barred to see & consult him.....? is this justice...even criminals are given excess to meet their lawyers....
To be a leader one needs publicity. ET is serving his cause well. Might be all his moves reported so that he is hammered in the minds of Pakistanis as a deserving leader.
@Ali: I would rather have justice that helps bring target killers / mobile phone snatchers / terrorists to justice. Not "political justice" which may as well be equated to "revenge". This is another political drama to fool the gullible which we all happen to be.
What? No havana cigars and single-malt? This is torture and inhumane treatment of the prisoner!
I'm not a Musharraf supporter, but I think no trial can be fair when the judiciary itself is biased.
Have some shame for degrading a hero who revived the economy of PK and created jobs.
May be the refrigerator in his room had fresh juice, (ice) tea, bread and jam...whats the big deal?
Long imprisonment for him and for those who have damaged the country! Many more needs to go after him.
This isnt justice , this is revenge!
Pure injustice
“Musharraf is being subjected to harsher conditions than he would have faced in Adiala Jail,” says Dr Amjad.
So just take him to Adiala Jail, if you think that is a more luxurious place
Musharaf..!! we are with you.. You are the real hero..
I am not for or against Musharraf amd neutral, but what is amusing is that while Musharraf is held in-eligible for election his companions including Chaudhrys and the 1200 or so legistlators of his regime are eligible, confusing system ah !
And the institute that granted his rule "legal credibility" i.e. Judiciary, is penalising him for his very deed, more confusing !!
And the ordinary "broadminded" people who talk of "anti-talibanisation", hate Musharraf for "lal Masjid" operation....much more confusing !!!
All is merely drama to fool nation. Retired General is still getting preferential treatment, enjoying lavish life in his farm house. Rule of Law is only for common men, not for elite.
Justice being served and that too to a former dictator. This is huge.
Qaid banne aya tha..Qaidi bangaya..
