HYDERABAD: Senior officers of Hyderabad Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) have warned of the possibility of acute water shortage in Hyderabad’s urban localities.

These concerns were expressed following interruptions in the water supply system due to unannounced load-shedding by the Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (Hesco).

Wasa executive engineers and senior officials, in a meeting chaired by its managing director, Salimuddin, observed that the water supply system cannot be run on generators for long hours due to financial constraints.

Additional managing director, Syed Mohsin Nazar, submitted a proposal to approach the government for financial assistance to purchase fuel for generators to ensure uninterrupted water supply to the citizens of Hyderabad.
