‘Unlawful campaigning’: Show-cause notice issued to former assembly speaker

The notice accuses Chagarmatti of utilising government machinery for his political campaign.

PESHAWAR:


A district returning officer (DRO) has issued a show-cause notice to former Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Assembly speaker and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) candidate from PK-7, Kiramatullah Khan Chagarmatti, for allegedly utilising government resources for his election campaign.


DRO Shabir Khan issued the notice on Friday. Chagarmatti has been asked to present himself in court today (Saturday) and clear his position on the matter.



The notice accuses Chagarmatti of utilising government machinery for his political campaign.

The monitoring committee of PK-7, comprising Additional Commissioner Muhammad Asif and Election Commissioner Muhammad Shoaib, were also issued notices and told to appear before  the court.
