Chief of Al-Badar Mujahideen’s Khyber Agency chapter, Alamgir Afridi, was gunned down by unidentified assailants in Jamal Khel Khawr at around 11.30am on Friday.
Khasadar line officer Khandad Afridi said an eyewitness told them Alamgir was returning to Khawr when two gunmen on a motorcycle intercepted him and opened fire. They fled after making sure Alamgir was dead.
Khasadar officials reached the site and shifted the deceased to Jamrud Civil Hospital.
After the incident, Assistant Political Agent Jehangir Azam Wazir gave orders to arrest all motorcyclists as motorcycles have been banned in the tehsil due to increased attacks on vehicles supplying goods to Nato troops in Afghanistan.
Later in the evening, members of Al-Badar Mujahideen gathered at the house of their slain leader and offered his funeral prayers. The deceased was buried in Jamal Khel graveyard. He leaves behind a widow, two daughters and a son.
