PHC Chief Justice Dost Muhammad Khan and Justice Irshad Qaisar gave the orders while hearing a suo motu notice taken after the PHC Human Rights Directorate reported Bibi’s murder, which was committed on March 26 in the vicinity of the LRH’s operation theatre.
During the hearing on April 10, Deputy Superintendent Police (investigation wing) Saleem Riaz informed the court the accused, Jamshed, had been arrested after his phone was traced to gain information on his whereabouts. Riaz maintained Jamshed had admitted to killing Bibi and setting her body on fire.
The bench disclosed Jamshed had been offered Rs4 million to not disclose the names of his accomplices. The bench also remarked it was impossible to carry out such a brutal act on a woman in a highly secure place, adding it was important to expose insiders. It directed LRH Chief Executive Arshad Javed to handover suspects employed at the hospital for police interrogation.
The bench adjourned the hearing with directions to the police department to further widen their scope of investigation in order to arrest the facilitators.
