Journalist Abul Akhyar passes away on Wednesday, September 22, in Karachi.

KARACHI: Journalist Abul Akhyar passed away on Wednesday, September 22, in Karachi, leaving behind five sons.

Akhyar was born in 1927 in Badayun, India. He received his Bachelors degree from the Aligarh Muslim University in philosophy and English literature. He started his career in journalism as a columnist for the Delhi Anjaam newspaper. He came to Karachi in September 1947 and continued working as a journalist at the Sindh Observer, Times of Karachi, Morning News and the Civil and Military Gazette, Lahore. He then became the editor of the Indus Times, after which he worked at the Hyderabad New Times, Rawalpindi, as well as Dawn. He retired in 2008 after working as the executive editor for the Business Recorder. Akhyar was proficient in Urdu, English and Persian. His soyem will be held at his residence between 4 pm and 7 pm on Friday, September 24. Address: 4-E, 11/12, Nazimabad No. 4. adil jawad
