Stuck In A Manhole: Two die rescuing goat, another critical

Some passers-by heard one of them shouting for help and called Rescue 1122.

BAHAWALPUR: Two men died on Wednesday in an attempt to rescue a goat that fell into a manhole. A third man was taken to a hospital in critical condition. The goat also died. Rescue officials said that Alamgir’s goat had fallen into a manhole in Ahmad Khan Solangi Colony near Sadiqabad. They said he was the first to go down to try and rescue the goat, while his brother and cousin were at hand to help him. When he stopped answering their calls, his brother Jehangir and cousin Allah Ditta went to get him. After some time, some passers-by heard one of them shout for help and called Rescue 1122. By the time the men were pulled out, Alamgir was dead. The others were taken to a hospital, but Allah Ditta died on the way. Doctors treating Jehangir said that he was in critical condition.
