Survey: People want ‘media transparency’

To the question “Should the name of the TV channel that received Rs300 million in secret funds be disclosed, the answer was an overwhelming “Yes.”

An overwhelming number of people voted for more transparency to three questions posed by The Express Tribune on its poll on Tuesday.


The three questions posed to readers in the online survey were “Should government departments other than security agencies be allowed to distribute secret funds?” To this, the overwhelming response was “No”. To the question “Is the media a holy cow. Should it be receiving secret funds?” the overwhelming response was again “No”. At the same time, to the question “Should the name of the TV channel that received Rs300 million in secret funds be disclosed, the answer was an overwhelming “Yes.”
