RAWALPINDI: Sacked Managing Director of Oil and Gas Development Company (OGDC) Adnan Khawaja has been released on bail from Adiala Jail Rawalpindi while the Lahore High Court has approved the interim bail plea of Brigadier (retd) Imtiaz.

Khawaja was taken into custody on Tuesday from the Supreme Court as per court orders. The court gave his arrest orders during the hearing of NRO's implementation case.

Khawaja is an NRO beneficiary and Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani recently appointed him as the Managing Director of OGDC.

The Supreme Court took notice of his appointment which led the government to sack him.

Brigadier (retd) Imtiaz who was also arrested with Adnan Khawaja has been granted interim bail. The bail was approved by a two-member bench headed by Justice Ijaz Chaudhry.

The LHC ordered Brigadier Imtiaz to submit bail bonds worth Rs20 million and has scheduled the hearing for bail extension on October 6.

The former head of Intelligence Bureau was arrested on the Supreme Court's orders for violating its verdict on the National Reconciliation Ordinance.

The Supreme Court had also allowed him to submit his bail bonds in the LHC within three days.

Nasir Ahmed | 13 years ago | Reply Thanks God at least we have a supreme court that is setting an example in the history of pakistan for the first time to issue arrest orders of the giants who have destroyed our country by engaging in massive loot without any fear in the past in virtually all regimes in pakistan's history. A revolution in pakistan is not possible without first complete eradication of corruption at all levels starting from the top. IMF loans, holding begging bowls to internationals donors, load shedding (which is due to nonpayment of oil bills), and all other menaces are the result of massive corruption at different levels.
